Shenzhen Launches First 20,000 AI Travel Passes

The Shenzhen Municipal Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism, and Sports Bureau, in collaboration with Jiatui Technology, held a launch ceremony for the "Shenzhen AI City Travel Pass / Shenzhen AI Travel Pass" at Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport.
As China’s first city-level AI travel card, the Shenzhen AI Travel Pass integrates curated cultural and tourism resources across the city. It connects AI translation, transportation,商圈 discounts, travel guides, and other commonly used services for international visitors, providing one-stop convenience and benefits to create a smarter, more welcoming travel experience in Shenzhen.
A firsthand trial revealed that the card uses NFC technology. Visitors simply tap their phone to the card to automatically open a dedicated web page—no additional app download required. The page supports real-time translation in 145 languages, along with practical information such as entry/exit guidelines, communication setup, payment methods, currency exchange, emergency contacts, and cultural etiquette, helping international travelers quickly adapt to life in Shenzhen.
Additionally, each card comes preloaded with 15 RMB for use on Shenzhen’s buses and metro system. It is also compatible with public transportation in over 300 cities nationwide, ensuring seamless travel for both business and leisure trips.
The dedicated page also features comprehensive coverage of Shenzhen’s dining, entertainment, attractions, shopping, and transportation. The first phase includes an urban benefits package worth over 700 RMB, covering discounts at popular landmarks such as Sea World’s Minghua Cruise, Shenye UpperHills, Qingqing World, Shenzhen Safari Park, and Happy Harbor.
Moroccan tourist Nassima, who received one of the AI travel cards, expressed delight: “Shenzhen truly lives up to its reputation as a tech city. This device offers great convenience to foreign visitors. I just saw on the webpage that there are many food options at Futian Coco Park, and I’m heading there now.”
An upgraded version of the AI Travel Pass will support cross-application use in global apps, enabling real-time translation during chats, video calls, and displaying bilingual subtitles on both parties’ screens for smoother cross-language communication.
The first batch of 20,000 AI Travel Passes is available for free to foreign tourists entering Shenzhen. They can present their passports at designated pickup points—including Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport, Shenzhen Bay Port, and Gangxia North Metro Station (coming soon)—to register and receive a card. On-site staff will provide guidance to ensure smooth activation and usage.
